Update on the Old Sports Centre - March 2025
Stone Circle are acting as the developer of the site and took legal ownership in December 2023. They had agreed the specification with White Horse Housing, who will be managing the properties, and sent out tenders with a July return date.
We were waiting until Stone Circle (a wholly owned development company of Wiltshire Council) received board approval to prepare for a start on site. Meetings to give the approval have been cancelled and delayed (7 times!) and there won’t be one before 20th May 2025.
We have been in contact with Stone Circle who have only been able to report ‘no news’. We can accept that issues of build costs and profit margins have to be considered, but we can only surmise what is behind the continued delays. The scheme does offer considerable social benefit to the community, yet we do not have the opportunity to discuss the issues with the decision makers. We have written to the Stone Circle Developments Board expressing our frustration.

PLANNING APPLICATION APPROVED
We’re delighted to be able to tell you that the Old Sports Centre project has had its planning application approved at Wiltshire Council's Southern Area Planning Committee meeting held on 8th December 2022.
The project is supported by the community and the Parish Council, and will offer 13 dwellings in the local style. 6 of these will be offered as ‘affordable housing’ and the freehold to these properties will be held by the Nadder Community Land Trust in perpetuity. They will be managed by the housing association, White Horse.
